About me

Hi, I’m John.

I decided to start Ruff and Roll training because I wanted to share my passion and the knowledge I’ve gained from working with rescue dogs for many years. It’s hard for me to describe the feeling I get when I see a dog that has been shut down with severe anxiety or behavior problems start to turn the corner and become an adoptable pet. I have personally fostered many dogs and puppies and have three dogs of my own.

A few years ago, I decided that I wanted to train dogs, so I started taking classes, working with trainers, attending seminars, volunteering at the shelter, and working with as many dogs as I could to understand what training methods work with which dogs, and to learn dog body language. I am still learning every day. I’d love to show you and your dog how to have a better understanding of each other, and help you enjoy your time together to the fullest.

I’m also a working musician, playing bass in a local cover band (Stone Age Romeos), so you can see where the rock and roll idea got its start.

This is Sandy, who we adopted recently at 9 yrs old. He wants to go everywhere I go. It's amazing how much he's learned as a senior dog!
